The Association Between Health Belief Model Components and Self-Care Practices Among Black/African American Men with Type 2 Diabetes

Abstract

HBM-focused analysis in 1,225 Black/African American men with T2D: self-efficacy robustly predicts self-care across diet, exercise, glucose monitoring, and foot care; perceived susceptibility and severity show positive associations with several domains; perceived barriers relate negatively; perceived benefits largely nonsignificant.
