Adherence to physical activity guidelines associated with self-care management and self-regulatory efficacy for type 2 diabetes among Black/African American men

Abstract

In a national sample of 1,225 Black/African American men with T2D, meeting WHO physical activity guidelines (≥450 MET-min/week) was associated with higher diabetes self-care (4.4 vs 3.4 days/week) and higher self-regulatory efficacy; predictors of non-adherence included older age, higher BMI, not employed, and lower efficacy. Logistic models highlight self-regulatory efficacy as a key lever for PA adherence.
