Implementation characteristics that may promote sustainability of a rural physical activity initiative: examination of Play Streets through the lens of community implementers

Abstract

Qualitative interviews (n=16) with rural implementers across MD, NC, OK, TX identified sustainability facilitators mapped to the Public Health Program Capacity for Sustainability Framework: funding stability, political support, partnerships, organizational capacity, adaptation, evaluation, communications, strategic planning, and public health impacts; emergent themes included cultural alignment/support and reciprocal determinism.
