Identifying Social Network Characteristics Associated With Youth Physical Activity Skill Competency at a Summer Care Program

Abstract

Cross-sectional survey of youth (n=158, ages 8–12) at two Boys & Girls Clubs (WI, TX). Higher perceived PA skill competency was associated with being younger, male, more team-sport participation, and more weekly PA; network composition also mattered: more frequent play partners, more alters who help them be active, and more heterogeneous relationship types predicted higher competency (R^2≈0.17).
