Assessing Situational Awareness for Healthful Behaviors and the “Self-Care Gap” Among Non-Hispanic Black and Hispanic Men With Chronic Conditions

Abstract

Cross-sectional web-panel of 1,761 men ≥40 with chronic conditions. Higher situational awareness associated with more screenings, PA guideline adherence, social support, fatigue/stress; “self-care gap” larger with depression, fatigue, barriers to self-care, and healthcare frustrations; Hispanic men reported narrower gap than non-Hispanic Black men.
